Dog Watch

A new initiative called “Dog Watch” which is based on the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme ethos that many eyes watching an area may reduce crime, is now ready for trial. We are therefore asking residents to work with us and become Dog Watch co-ordinators on their particular street. The co-ordinators will be provided with a specially branded kit which will enable them to:
  • Stencil the pavement
  • Put up signage
  • Hand out leaflets and report it cards
  • Distribute window stickers
  • Assist with monitoring

If you are interested in joining this scheme, please click here for an application form or contact us on:

Keep Britain Tidy’s research shows that dog fouling is a major concern to members of the public. There also appears to be a bigger problem that has arisen in that increasing amounts of bagged dog faeces are being left behind as people fail to dispose of their bags after cleaning up after their pets. Research has also found that 70% of local authorities have some sort of problem within their area.
The dog walkers in Appleby can do their bit by cleaning up after their dogs and not disposing of the bags in trees and hedges - please help keep our village tidy  in the bins provided.
