We want to share with the Parish Councillors news of emh care and support’s exciting new Supported Living development in Ashby-de-la-Zouch we are calling “Springfields” due to open in Spring 2021.

With a contract cost of over £13.1 million including a grant from NWLDC of £1.25 million, Springfields  is being built to a very high standard and will consist of 53  one bedroom apartments and 12 two bedroom apartments for rental or for shared ownership. There will also be a Bistro, Beauty Salon and a Community Room, available to the tenants and general public, allowing Springfields to be a hub for the community.

The concept of Springfields is to provide people with their own homes, being able to maintain independence and a quality lifestyle whilst secure in the knowledge that there is staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

It is a unique development in that it is not age restricted, it is about building a balanced and vibrant community.

For people who are under the age of 55 the only requirement is that they have a care or support need, which could be as little as 3 hours a week.  This could be ideal for younger people with learning or physical disabilities who are living with parents and want to become more independent and have their own home.  It could be for middle aged people or returning service men and women who have suffered trauma or injury and need an element of care or support but wish to have the independence and freedom that their own home provides.

For people over 55, there is no care requirement. It could be that people want to downsize and enjoy the security of knowing there are staff on site should they ever need. Likewise they may have care and support needs and their current home in no longer ideal for their physical needs but they want to maintain their independence and do not want to move into a care home.

We have been sending out expression of interest forms for the people who have already attended our marketing events (pre-Covid-19) and have expanded our digital presence to reach out to the people in North West Leicestershire and we will working with the Leicestershire Adult Social Care Teams to help identify people in the District who may benefit from this service.

We have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/emhspringfields/ which is update regularly Monday – Friday.  We have a web page that contains information forms and Computer Generated Images of the external and internal building, including one of the  Apartment types. We are in the process of having additional Apartment types completed and animations giving people a virtual walk through, which we are excited about. These should be added to the site by end of May/beginning of June.  https://www.emhcareandsupport.org.uk/living-with-us/springfields/

I am attaching a copy of an advert that you may see in the local Life magazines and other press, as well as a copy of our latest newsletter.  We are on course to have show apartments available for viewing by September, and would be delighted to give you a tour – social distancing not with standing.  We have plans to do 360 degree virtual tours should in person visits not be practical.

I hope you are able to share this information with the Councillors as it may be of benefit for those in their community. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me directly.  If you would like this information in hard copy via Post, please let me know and I will make the arrangement.

Likewise please feel free to share this and the attached information with anyone the Council may know who may be interested.

Many thanks,

Robert
